About me

Hello!

I’m Danielle Kosecki, a journalist turned content leader.

Over the past decade, I’ve worked with companies of all sizes — from startups in stealth mode to Fortune 5 companies and everything in between. I've built brands and websites from scratch, led teams, launched apps, developed smartwatch notifications, produced videos, run social media, created curriculums, and written way too many blog posts.

Before making the leap to branded content, I worked for 10 years as a staff writer and editor at national magazines, most of which no longer exist (thanks, capitalism!). During that time, I also compiled and edited The Bicycling Big Book of Training. I really like bikes.

I have a bachelor’s degree in English/creative writing from Binghamton University and a master’s degree in magazine, newspaper, and online journalism from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School. The latter was a waste of money (that I just finished paying off), but it helped me get from writing bad poetry to editing Pulitzer Prize-winning authors, so I guess I can’t complain.

Originally from New York, I now live at 7,800 feet in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains with my annoyingly smart husband, a Taiwanese street dog who lives in the lap of luxury yet still needs anxiety medication (honestly same), an esthetically gifted but intellectually humble rescue cat, and a Maine Coon kitten who turns on faucets when we’re not home.

A seal point cat named Jiro lying on a table looking adorable.

I like making cool things with nice people

And sometimes those cool things win awards.

  • In 2015, a story I edited for Glamour magazine, “Could you spot someone with an eating disorder” won a Clarion Award from The Association for Women in Communication.

  • The Ellies are the magazine world's equivalent of the Oscars — the most prestigious award in American magazine journalism, presented annually by the American Society of Magazine Editors.

In 2105, when I was health editor, Glamour won an Ellie for General Excellence in the Service and Lifestyle category.

MORE magazine was also nominated for a General Excellence Ellie in 2012 while I was a health writer there.

  • In 2014, a story I edited for Glamour, “The 5 skin cancer mistakes we all make” won a Skin Cancer Foundation Media Award.
